PulseNet Europe is a European network, part of the Network of Excellence MedVetNet (www.mvn.org) with more than 57 institutes from 30 countries covering food, veterinary and public health institutes. The aim of PulseNet is to establish a real-time genotyping surveillance system of zoonotic pathogens based on Pulse-Filed Gel Electrophoresis (PFGE) to trace disease clusters and investigate outbreaks of foodborne pathogens, e.g. Salmonella, verocytotoxigenic E. coli (VTEC) and Listeria monocytogenes.
