SmartGene Services Ltd. is a SME specialized in IT development, Web-service operations and expert services for online data-management and data-analysis services and bio-informatics. Its office is located in the Science Parc of the Swiss Polytechnical University, EPFL in Lausanne, on the shore of Lake Geneva. The SmartGene Services team expertise spans from MD and PhD knowledge in diagnostic and lab technology to advanced programming and bio-informatics with a total of 10 persons. SmartGene Services develops and maintains Integrated Database Network System (IDNS™) services provided to diagnostic and research laboratories, pharma and diagnostic companies and public health institutions worldwide. The IDNS™ applications include services such as HIV drug resistance and epidemiology platforms, bacterial and fungal sequence-based identification and typing, MLST typing of Orthopox and Influenza viruses, Meningococci and food-borne pathogens. Some of these services are distributed in license by Hoffmann-La Roche to human diagnostic laboratories. (Stefan Emler)
