Check-Points has developed a system to detect and identify a range of micro organisms in one test that is fast (24 h), and easy to use in a standard food labs. The first product, the Salmonella Serovar Array^TM, enables serovar classification of a food sample in 24 hours. It has been proven in various food matrices. CHECK combines a fast diagnostic micro array with a multiplex PCR amplification, which enables selective amplification of relevant biomarkers across the whole genome (or multiple genomes) of micro organisms. The method allows for parallel screening of Enterobacteria, the Salmonella to a detailed strain level in the same test. Publications with leading institutes about the Serovar Array are currently in preparation. (Pieter Vos)
